Living Longer, Living Better

STOP thinking about the future
START changing to meet it

Dr. Chris Gibbon, Vice President for IBM’s Social Services and Social Security business worldwide will address the club with findings from the "Living Longer Living Better" report addressing the challenge of an aging workforce and how these same changes affect us in Australia.

The 'Living Long, Living Better" research is the outcome of a study conducted as a collaboration between the European Unions’ Lisbon Council and IBM’s Institute of Business Value.  The foundation of this study was to understand the long range impacts of globalization and the information age, combined with the rapid social and demographic shifts we are experiencing.  The study extrapolates the findings to outline a range of responses governments can have to these changes and the policy transformations they would need to take to harness these changes to ensure strong economies and adequate social services.

Dr Gibbon will discuss how predictable changes, such as the aging population and globalisation, will challenge government. Establishing the right policies and delivering the right programs will be necessary to ensure a strong economy and provide the adequate social services.  It’s clear that Government agencies will need to modernise to meet these demands.  But what policies and programs are required?  And how do government agencies travel down this path of modernisation?

Dr Gibbon will discuss innovative solutions for addressing organisational change and selecting the right approach to move towards this vision for a sustainable future.

Please note this event will not be broadcast live.
