President Australian Medical Association

"Investing in the health of our nation"

Dr Rosanna Capolingua is the President of the Australian Medical Association.

In her address to the National Press Club, AMA President, Dr Rosanna Capolingua, will outline how patients can get a better deal in the evolving health debate.

The peak doctors’ body is invigorated by the healthy debate sparked in recent times by the Rudd Government’s reform agenda.

The health of our nation depends on the future of the medical workforce; Medicare; doctors’ training; medical professional registration; and preventative health in a climate of rapidly growing levels of chronic disease.

Dr Capolingua will put these and other burning health issues under the microscope.

Dr Rosanna Capolingua was recently returned unopposed for a second year as Federal AMA President.

Since her election in May 2007 Dr Capolingua has vigorously defended the integrity and professionalism of the medical workforce; and has worked hard to ensure that health remains a priority issue for governments at all levels.

She is a member of the Council of MDA National, and the boards of MercyCare, the Raine Foundation, Healthway, and the Board of Governors at the University of Notre Dame.

She is a member of two National Health and Medical Research Council advisory bodies.

Dr Capolingua has been a GP for more than 20 years. Her three children are all currently pursuing medical careers.
