Anthony Albanese was first elected to Federal Parliament in 1996 as the Member for Grayndler.
On 3 December 2007, Anthony was sworn in as Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. He is also the Leader of the House of Representatives.
The Minister has held positions with the House of Representatives Standing Committees on Ageing,Economics, Finance and Public Administration, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs,Financial Institutions and Public Administration and also Communications, Transport and Microeconomic Reform.
His parliamentray party positions have included; Manager of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives, Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Shadow Minister for Water, Shadow Minister for the Environment and Heritage,Deputy Manager of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives,Shadow Minister for Employment Services and Training, Shadow Minister for Ageing and Seniors,Parliamentary Secretary to the Shadow Minister for Family and Community Services and Parliamentary Secretary to the Shadow Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Reconciliation and the Arts, Member, Caucus Social Policy and Community Development Committee, Member, Caucus Living Standards and Economic Development Committee and
Member, Caucus Infrastructure Regional and Rural Development Committee.
The Minister's qualifications before enterting parliament include Bachelor of Economics (Sydney),
Bank officer 1980-81, Research officer to the Minister for Local Government and Administrative Services, the Hon. T. Uren, MP, Party official 1989-95 and Senior Policy Adviser to the Premier (NSW), the Hon. RJ Carr 1995-96.
