In Conversation with Jane Halton

In Conversation with Jane Halton, the chair of CEPI – the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation.

CEPI was set up in 2017 in Davos, after agreement that a coordinated, international and intergovernmental plan was needed to develop and deploy new vaccines to prevent future epidemics. Historically vaccine development has been a long, expensive and risky exercise. Now as the world battles the Covid-19 pandemic, CEPI’s work to accelerate the development of vaccines against emerging, infectious disease and enable equitable access to them during outbreaks is now centre-stage.

Jane Halton enjoyed a 33 year career with the Australian public service, including 15 years as secretary of the departments of Health and Finance. CEPI is a Norwegian association with offices in Oslo, London and Washington DC. Its work is overseen by the board.

Jane will discuss CEPI’s work with the president of the National Press Club, Sabra Lane. Working journalists will also have an opportunity to question Ms Halton.

This event will be held under strict COVID-19 protocols and as such is not an open event for members or the public.

The ACT Government has provided the National Press Club an approval for the continuation of our broadcast events subject to conditions.
