Michael Daley is the Member for Maroubra in the NSW Parliament (since 2005). He currently holds the position of Leader of the Opposition.

In the NSW Labor Opposition Michael’s former Shadow Ministerial positions include serving as Shadow Treasurer (2011-2016), Shadow Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight (2014-15), as well as Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services (2014), and Shadow Minister for Finance and Services (2011-2014), Shadow Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, and Shadow Minister for Gaming and Racing (2016-2018), and Manager of Opposition Business (2011-2018) as well as being Deputy Leader of the Opposition (2016-2018).

In Government, Michael’s former positions include serving as Minister for Police (2009-11), Minister for Finance (2009-11), and Minister for Roads (2008-2009).

Michael also served as a Councillor on Randwick City Council for 13 years and as Deputy Mayor for four years.

Michael holds Diploma of Law from the Barristers’ and Solicitors’ Admission Board and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.  He was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales as a legal practitioner in 1998.
