Laura Tingle of ABC wins German Grant for Journalism 2021

After cancellation in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the German Embassy in Canberra  is delighted to award once again the annual ‘German Grant for Journalism’ in collaboration
with the National Press Club of Australia - a partnership that spans over more than three decades.
The purpose of the ‘German Grant for Journalism’ is to encourage Australian journalists to present issues pertaining to Germany to an Australian audience. This year’s topic is “Germany with and without Chancellor Angela Merkel – an enduring legacy?”

We are pleased to announce this year’s German Grant for Journalism winner:
Laura Tingle
Chief Political Correspondent
ABC 7.30

As this year’s winner, Laura Tingle is offered a one week virtual research trip to Germany in the lead-up to the 2021 German general election on 26 September 2021 to be followed by a one week physical research trip to Berlin in 2022 (subject to Covid-19 pandemic developments and restrictions). These research trips are funded and supported by official invitation of the German Government. The German Grant for Journalism was first awarded in 1986.
