The National Press Club of Australia

Andrew Campbell, Chief Executive of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, will Address the Rural & National Press Clubs of Australia on "Australia’s role in feeding the world."

Professor Campbell will discuss Australia’s role in feeding the world, sustainably. He will argue that the vital importance of agrifood systems is not getting enough attention in tackling global heating, and in climate change policy debates.

Among influential roles in sustainable agriculture and research management in Australia for over thirty years, Professor Campbell was Australia's first National Landcare Facilitator, and CEO of Land & Water Australia for seven years from 2000.  He is Patron of Landcare in Victoria, succeeding the late Joan Kirner in 2015.

Andrew Campbell is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy for Technology and Engineering, a Professorial Fellow at the ANU Fenner School, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute for Company Directors.  He represents Australia on the System Council of the USD$1 billion  CGIAR, with 9,000 scientists in international research centres across 45 mostly developing countries.  He has also Chaired the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA).

Andrew Campbell was appointed chief executive at ACIAR by the Foreign Minister in 2016, his term will end on July 31.
